A Historical Exhibition Previously Displayed in the UK Parliament

Ukraine Appeal brings to Milton Keynes an important historical exhibition on Holodomor 1932-1933, previously displayed in the UK Parliament in 2025.

Ukraine Appeal is honoured to bring to Milton Keynes an important historical exhibition previously displayed in the UK Parliament in 2025.

Created by the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, this English-language exhibition explores the Holodomor of 1932–1933 — the man-made famine that devastated Ukraine under Soviet rule and claimed millions of lives.

Through 16 exhibition panels featuring archival photographs, historical documents and evidence, visitors will discover one of the most tragic chapters of Ukrainian and twentieth-century European history.

Why Does This History Matter Today?

Almost a century later, the humanitarian situation in Russian-occupied Oleshky, southern Ukraine, reminds us of the importance of protecting civilians, ensuring access to food and humanitarian assistance, and documenting human suffering.

Although the Holodomor and the present-day humanitarian crisis in Oleshky arose under different historical circumstances, both invite us to reflect on the consequences of deprivation, the value of human life and the responsibility to preserve historical truth.

History is not only about understanding the past. It is also about recognising our responsibility to protect human dignity today.

Supporting “Bake for Ukraine”: A Mobile Bakery for Frontline Communities

While remembering the millions of Ukrainians who died during the Holodomor due to deprivation of food, we take practical steps to fight hunger today. We invite visitors and supporters to contribute to food security initiatives that make a real difference now.

This exhibition is part of the national Campaign of HOPE – Help Other People Eat, led by AUGB and AUW. Ukraine Appeal joins this campaign and is collecting donations for a mobile bakery that will bake fresh bread and deliver it to devastated frontline communities that major suppliers often can't reach and that larger international NGOs overlook, where the security situation remains extremely challenging.

To donate towards the mobile bakery, please follow this link. All funds will be transferred directly to the organisation running the project. Learn more about the initiative at: https://bakeforukraine.org/
