Vyshyvanka Runway: The Code of Identity — A Living Artwork Created by Our Community
“Vyshyvanka Runway: The Code of Identity” is a unique live street‑art installation by Ukraine Appeal charity. This powerful project united the Ukrainian community of Milton Keynes through art, identity, and human connection.
Bringing together mainly women and children of all ages, the initiative proved that even thousands of miles away from home, our traditions, values, and the beauty of Ukrainian culture continue to strengthen us and keep our community connected.
What began as an aesthetic art installation — symbolising all 25 regions of Ukraine through embroidery, colour, and movement — grew into something much larger in meaning and scale. It became a shared cultural experience, a moment of unity, and a celebration of who we are.
Together, through this living installation, we created a modern Vyshyvanka of Milton Keynes — crafted not from fabric, but from people. From our community. From every individual who took part.
