Giving Back to Milton Keynes: A Lasting Legacy from the Ukrainian Community

At Ukraine Appeal and Sunflower Ukrainian Supplementary School, we believe that gratitude is best expressed through action. Small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact, just as a young sapling can grow into a strong tree that benefits generations to come.

We are delighted to have donated 30 wooden tree guards to The Parks Trust, as a gesture of thanks from Milton Keynes' Ukrainian community to the city that has welcomed and supported so many of us since we arrived in the UK.

Milton Keynes is renowned for its beautiful parks, green spaces and thousands of trees. The Parks Trust works tirelessly to care for these precious natural assets, ensuring they continue to benefit residents, visitors and local wildlife for years to come.

For Ukrainians, community support carries a special meaning. We understand how important it is not only to receive kindness during difficult times, but also to give something back. This donation reflects our appreciation for the warmth, friendship and opportunities that Milton Keynes has offered to Ukrainian families rebuilding their lives here.

The 30 tree guards will be used at Poplar Plantation, where they will help protect young trees as they establish and grow. These simple wooden structures play an important role in safeguarding saplings, helping them flourish into healthy, mature trees that will provide environmental benefits and enhance the local landscape.

We are grateful to The Parks Trust for allowing us to contribute in a small but meaningful way to the future of Milton Keynes. Together, we are creating a lasting legacy that will benefit both people and wildlife.

And a massive thank you to all our volunteers, supporters, and members of the local community who made this thoughtful gesture possible!
