British‑Ukrainian Christmas Tree Installed at Milton Keynes Central Library

A British‑Ukrainian Christmas tree has once again been installed at Milton Keynes Central Library, beautifully decorated by Ukrainian children from our community.

The Ukrainian community in Milton Keynes is proud to continue this meaningful tradition, which has become a cherished symbol of unity and cultural connection. We extend our sincere thanks to Milton Keynes City Council and Milton Keynes Libraries for giving us the opportunity to bring this special tree to the heart of the city once again.

This year’s tree carries an especially heartfelt touch. It is adorned with handmade ornaments created by the children of the Sunflower Ukrainian Supplementary School, with the kind support of Elaine Wales from John Lewis & Partners. Each decoration reflects the creativity, warmth and resilience of our young people — children who celebrate Christmas here in safety while holding close the memory of a homeland still facing hardship.

For Ukraine Appeal CIO, this Christmas tree is more than festive decoration. It stands as a reminder of the winter struggles faced by families in Ukraine — power outages, cold homes and the daily challenges of life during war. The small hands that crafted these ornaments warm our hearts and remind us that hope grows even in the most difficult times.

Children are the future of Ukraine — the guardians of our identity, culture and national spirit. Through traditions like this, we help them stay connected to their roots while building a sense of belonging here in Milton Keynes.

With gratitude, faith in miracles and love in our hearts, Ukraine Appeal CIO and the Sunflower Ukrainian Supplementary School thank all partners, supporters and families who make this tradition possible.
