Celebrating Cultural Harmony Through Songs

Last Saturday, Ukraine Appeal proudly took part in the Cultural Harmony: All Nations Meet & Greet event at the Fishermead Trinity Centre — a vibrant celebration of community, heritage and unity across Milton Keynes. Our representative, Olha Pereverzeva, brought Ukrainian culture to the heart of the event through a moving musical performance that resonated deeply with audiences.

Olha Pereverzeva — “A Ukrainian Heart from the East”

Born in Mariupol and raised in Donetsk, Olha has carried Ukrainian culture with her throughout her life. With degrees in Finance and Public Administration and over 12 years of public service, her journey changed dramatically in 2014 when she was forced to leave her native region. In 2022, following Russia’s full‑scale invasion, she left Ukraine once again — to protect her child.

Creativity and Ukrainian traditions have always been central to Olha’s identity. Since childhood, she has been passionate about sharing Ukrainian heritage, inspiring others to appreciate its beauty, symbolism and spirit. This devotion earned her the affectionate nickname “A Ukrainian Heart from the East.”

Her volunteering journey began with small cultural concerts and has grown into a true calling. Since 2022, Olha and her family have actively supported Ukraine Appeal, contributing to our cultural, educational and community events across Milton Keynes.

A Performance That United Communities

At the Cultural Harmony event, Olha performed traditional Ukrainian songs that filled the hall with emotion, pride and warmth. Her voice, carrying the stories and strength of her homeland, created a powerful moment of connection among the many cultures represented. Attendees from diverse backgrounds joined in applause, celebrating the shared joy that music brings.

We extend our sincere thanks to Maria Affa and the team at MGB Community Service CIO for organising such a welcoming and meaningful event. From colourful cultural fashion and delicious food to uplifting music and dance, the day showcased the beauty of Milton Keynes’ diverse communities.

Olha’s performance was a highlight — a reminder that even far from home, Ukrainian culture continues to thrive, inspire and unite.
