Ukraine Appeal Brings to Milton Keynes a Historical Exhibition on the Holodomor Previously Displayed in the UK Parliament
Ukraine Appeal is honoured to bring to Milton Keynes an important historical exhibition previously displayed in the UK Parliament in 2025.
Created by the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, this English‑language exhibition explores the Holodomor of 1932–1933 — the man‑made famine imposed by the Soviet regime that devastated Ukraine and claimed millions of lives.
Through 16 exhibition panels featuring archival photographs, historical documents and evidence, visitors can discover one of the most tragic chapters in Ukrainian and twentieth‑century European history.
The exhibition is organised by Ukraine Appeal CIO (Registered Charity No. 1199404) in partnership with PLAST – The National Scout Organisation of Ukraine, The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB), The Association of Ukrainian Women in Great Britain (AUW), and Milton Keynes City Council.
This exhibition opening coincides with World Food Day, creating a powerful connection between historical remembrance and today’s humanitarian action.
Why This History Matters Today
Almost a century after the Holodomor, the humanitarian situation in Russian‑occupied Oleshky, in southern Ukraine, reminds us of the ongoing importance of protecting civilians, ensuring access to food and humanitarian assistance, and documenting human suffering.
Although the Holodomor and the present‑day crisis in Oleshky arose under different historical circumstances, both compel us to reflect on the consequences of deprivation, the value of human life, and the responsibility to preserve historical truth.
History is not only about understanding the past. It is also about recognising our duty to safeguard human dignity today.
Supporting “Bake for Ukraine”: A Mobile Bakery for Frontline Communities
As we remember the millions of Ukrainians who died during the Holodomor due to the deliberate deprivation of food, we take practical steps to fight hunger today. Ukraine Appeal is joining the national Campaign of HOPE – Help Other People Eat, led by AUGB and AUW.
We are collecting donations for a mobile bakery that will bake fresh bread and deliver it to devastated frontline communities—places major suppliers often cannot reach and larger international NGOs frequently overlook, where the security situation remains extremely challenging.
To donate towards the mobile bakery, please follow this link. All funds will be transferred directly to the organisation running the project.
