The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Paul Trendall, is seeking nominations for the Milton Keynes Mayors’ Awards 2027.
Nominations are now open for the Milton Keynes Mayor's Awards 2027, which celebrate the individuals, charities, community groups and organisations that make our city a better place to live.
At Ukraine Appeal, we are proud to support children, families and communities through humanitarian assistance, educational programmes, cultural activities, wellbeing initiatives, community events and practical support for those rebuilding their lives in the UK. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, supporters, partners and beneficiaries.
If our work has made a positive difference to you, your family, or the wider Milton Keynes community, we would be honoured if you considered nominating Ukraine Appeal for a Mayor's Award.
Why You Might Consider Nominating Ukraine Appeal
Over the past year, we have worked alongside local residents, volunteers and partners to:
Support Ukrainian children and families settling in Milton Keynes.
Deliver educational opportunities and cultural programmes for children and young people.
Celebrate and preserve Ukrainian language, culture and heritage.
Promote inclusion, community cohesion and cross-cultural understanding.
Provide practical, social and wellbeing support to those affected by war and displacement.
Create meaningful volunteering opportunities and encourage community participation.
While the choice of category is entirely yours, our work may be particularly relevant to the following award categories:
Diversity & Inclusion Award - Recognising organisations that promote inclusion, strengthen community connections and help people from different backgrounds participate fully in community life. Over the past four years, we have helped Ukrainian families rebuild their lives in Milton Keynes while creating opportunities for meaningful connections with the wider community. Through educational, cultural and community programmes, we bring together people of different backgrounds, promote understanding between communities, and help individuals affected by war and displacement feel welcomed, included and empowered to participate fully in local life.
Arts, Culture and Heritage Award - Recognising organisations that enrich the city's cultural life and help preserve and celebrate heritage through education, events, performances and community activities. We believe culture builds bridges between communities. Through concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, educational projects, language programmes and cultural celebrations, we help preserve Ukrainian heritage while making it accessible to wider audiences across Milton Keynes. Our work enriches the city's cultural life and creates opportunities for people of all backgrounds to learn, connect and celebrate together.
Volunteer of the Year Award - Recognising the impact of volunteer-led charities and community organisations that make a significant contribution to local people's lives. As a grassroots charity supported by more than 100 volunteers over the last four years, we see this nomination primarily as recognition of the dedication, generosity and hard work of the people who have helped build our organisation and strengthen our community.
If you believe our work deserves recognition, your nomination would mean a great deal to everyone involved in Ukraine Appeal.
