Ukraine Appeal and Sunflower Ukrainian School Support the “Milton Keynes City of Culture 2029 – Back the Bid” Campaign

Milton Keynes is aiming to become the UK City of Culture 2029, and everyone is invited to contribute ideas and projects to support the city in this major national competition.

Ukrainian community wholeheartedly support Milton Keynes’ bid to become UK City of Culture 2029

If Milton Keynes is successful, 2029 will bring a full year of:

  • Art and creativity

  • Music and performances

  • Festivals and cultural events

  • Activities for families and young people

  • Significant investment into the city

Ukraine Appeal Charity and the Ukrainian Supplementary School “Sunflower” proudly support Milton Keynes City Council’s ambition to secure City of Culture status. We have already submitted our ideas to the bid team and are ready to contribute to the city’s cultural programme.

The Ukrainian community in Milton Keynes is actively initiating and joining cultural and creative projects across the city, enriching local cultural life and strengthening diversity. We hope to make a meaningful contribution to Milton Keynes’ journey towards becoming a City of Culture.

The campaign’s current phase — Summer 2026 — focuses on community engagement, events and gathering ideas from residents and organisations. The first results will be announced in autumn 2026, when the shortlist of cities is revealed. The final winner will be announced in early 2027.

We wish Milton Keynes every success and hope to see our city become the UK City of Culture 2029.
