Ukrainian Parish of St George Receives Official Status in Milton Keynes

The Ukrainian community in Milton Keynes is celebrating an important and deeply meaningful milestone. On St George’s Day — a date honoured across the United Kingdom — our parish received its official status and will now be known as:

“Orthodox Ukrainian Parish of St George the Victorious, Milton Keynes City”

This recognition marks a significant moment for our parishioners, for the wider Ukrainian community, and for everyone who supports the work of Ukraine Appeal and our community initiatives.

Choosing a name for the parish is far more than a formality. It represents a step forward in the development of the Ukrainian Church abroad, strengthening our spiritual unity and supporting Ukrainians who are far from home. In a time of war, the ability to remain close to faith, prayer, and the traditions we grew up with becomes especially important.

For many, the parish has become a place of comfort and belonging — a space where we can feel spiritual grace, receive real support, preserve Ukrainian church traditions, celebrate important occasions, and pass our heritage on to our children. It is a reminder that even thousands of kilometres from home, we remain united in faith, prayer, and love for Ukraine.

This is more than a name.
It is our home.
Our faith.
Our unity.

Glory to God for all things
